God proves Himself and His Word as infallible
And He uses a nation to do it, the nation of Israel.
Deuteronomy 4:35
35 To you it was shown, that you might know that the Lord is God; there is no other besides him.
What did God show that we might know that He alone is God and there is no other? Go to the preceding verse.
Deuteronomy 4:34
34 Or has any god ever attempted to go and take a nation for himself from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs, by wonders, and by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and by great deeds of terror, all of which the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?
The reference is of course to Israel coming out of Egypt. It is actually the existence of Israel that God uses to show He is God alone. Before Israel even set foot in the promised land, Moses gave a prophecy from God that Israel would rebel against the God who brought them out of Egypt. God said He would scatter them among the nations because of their rebellion, but also gather them back again from all the nations.
Deuteronomy 30:1-5
“And when all these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you call them to mind among all the nations where the Lord your God has driven you, 2 and return to the Lord your God, you and your children, and obey his voice in all that I command you today, with all your heart and with all your soul, 3 then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have mercy on you, and he will gather you again from all the peoples where the Lord your God has scattered you. 4 If your outcasts are in the uttermost parts of heaven, from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there he will take you. 5 And the Lord your God will bring you into the land that your fathers possessed, that you may possess it. And he will make you more prosperous and numerous than your fathers.
All this was said before Israel had even entered the promised land, written about 3500 years before the modern age.
So what does history show us. Israel did become a mighty nation, they did rebel, they fell as a nation into the hands of Rome which in 70AD finally ended Israel as a nation, it remained this way for approximately 2000 years, until 1948.
Israel is the only nation on the planet to have historically returned to existence as a sovereign nation after being annihilated and dispersed throughout the world. This has never happened before in the history of the world's nations and/or tribes throughout the ages.
Ezekiel 37:11-13
11 Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are indeed cut off.’ 12 Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will open your graves and raise you from your graves, O my people. And I will bring you into the land of Israel. 13 And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves, and raise you from your graves, O my people.
In our modern world, Israel is being restored to it's power, strength and sovereignty, stronger than before so long ago, just according to what God's word has accurately stated. It is before our eyes, on the news, in written media, this truth is undeniable.
Why is this important, because God said, and it was recorded over 3000 years ago, before the modern printing press, before the english translations of the many modern Bible versions we have today. If another god were to do this, we might believe in that one, but just as the Bible book of Deuteronomy states:
Deuteronomy 4:35
35 To you it was shown, that you might know that the Lord is God; there is no other besides him.
Think about it, God shows Himself to all peoples, particularly to our modern age where He knew we would question His very existence, that He is God and that we are without excuse, we are at the tail end of this amazing proof of prophecy in God's own existence.
Additional notes:
Something further to think about. The printing press existed before 1948. These prophecies were written into ink by hand and by the printing press, even into english well before the year 1948. This is significant, because it shows that this is a real prophecy from a book of collated writings, out of the ancient world, that accurately predicts exactly what would happen as promised in the written text. Now you also know why many in the world are so frustrated and keen to show the Bible as historically inaccurate in other areas. God himself tells us, He would take Israel out of another nation (slaves in Egypt), make them a great nation in a land not their own, which He did, then they would rebel, they did many times, then God would scatter them because of their rebellion (70AD by Rome's hand), then God would have compassion and bring them back to the land He scattered them from (1948 declaration of independence for Israel). It can't be clearer than that?!
